just found this awesome site i have a question about a 6 channel amp board i salvaged from a home receiver and i am attempting to get it going i have a good idea how to hook it up but i don't want to accidentally let the magic smoke out of the chips i am thinking i just supply the voltage to the board and connect the inputs and connect the speakers using the supply ground.
the donor amp was a rca rt2280 /w logic board issues
i am hoping to just make a custom power supply (+30v / -30v) and a car subwoofer style case.

Its Alive (Frankenamp)
after messing around with it for a bit i decided to just build a power supply with components off of the main board and this is what happened, not to shabby for my first audio salvage
the specs are 50w x 6 channel for a total of 300w , it smoked a 6ohm by 30W polk speaker (much louder than i anticipated)
volume control will be done with the htpc
Todo
add relays to power it up with the htpc
build a case
in closing to all the people with a rca RT2280 that has the shutdown issues it 95% the time logic-board issues and with some simple soldering skills and a little technical knowledge the receiver can be retrofitted to a 6 channel amp for use with a external decoder with the only downside if you can call it that being each channel will now amplify the raw signal, so if you put a signal in with a lot of bass and you have a satellite hooked up chances are you can kiss the speaker goodbye like my polk speaker did

Enclosure
i am going to use 1/4 inch ply board and cover it in sub-woofer carpet like you would find in a car, eventually i am going to get a htpc case large enough to integrate the amp and just leave the heat sink sticking out the back
