Meanwhile, you can test each mid/bass driver by disconnecting it from the crossover and connecting it directly to the amplifier.

That's a good idea. Maybe I'll get the time to actually try it. Heh. Diving into a whole new world here though and it's a rabbit hole eating some time up.
The mid/bass drivers look good, so I may just wait and just experiment with listening to the different tweeters by ear.
On a different note, interestingly, I just saw this video that talks about the value of keeping these tweeters flush-mounted versus surface-mounted:
So I am glad I opted for an exact fitting replacement.
