Help wanted for first time build?

Hi All,

I've just got a pair of wharfedale 8.2 Diamond speakers as a gift, and would like to make a small amp to use them with. As a little background, I've been building tube amps for guitar for years, and know the ins and outs of silicon electronics as well (I build a lot of guitar effects and stuff). I'm basically looking for an amp with a pcb design that can meet a few not so specific demands...

I'm looking for an amp that is:

Hi-Fi..meaning around 0.05% THD, or close to it.
-Small-medium output power (I'd say from 40W to 100W).
-Not too difficult of a build.
-Not too noisy or hot.
-Has a PCB layout available if possible.

I'm also looking to build it a matching preamp that has:
-Tone controls (Bass, and Treble).
-A plain line level input (Cd player, hi fi inputs etc..) is all that's needed.

I'm generally open to all sorts of sounds (mosfet, chip, etc... as long as they provide me with the above noted needs).

Any help will be greatly appreciated, cheers,

Nish

Your specification tell that you can use even simpler power amplifier circuit than discrete, ("Not too difficult of a build"). Reod Elliots P97 is ok for tone controls, but you can use one of widely used chip amplifiers, mostly named "Ganiclone" and "single chip amplifiers", if you use this words with Google you will see. Or you can visit Chip Amps forum on this site...

Best regards
