Yes so noted 😀 I want to inspect before purchase. Must avoid....temptation....
Now, list a pair closer to home and we'll talk 🙂

Nah. If you really wanted a pair you would have them by now.
Barry.
I don't understand what I see in that expired auction, sorry.
You would need that thing for doing what ?
Djk in another thread asked " which kind of tires should I buy?"
to say ironically...er...whazzat ?

Shameless plug
I'm clearing out my excess audio stuff and am selling my pair of BMS 8CN552 8" coax drivers. More info in the "for sale" forum here.

If I'm so smart...
(I realize no one has so accused me, but...)
...then why have I been listening for weeks with 3 of 4 connections (mids and highs) wired out of phase, and just knowing that the image was not working properly? 😀

HOM, HOM on the range 😀
Having sold my expensive (but unused) BMS drivers at a huge loss
(Thanks a lot you ingrate non-bidders !)
🙂
I have been wading through some of the Epic Threads here. Currently reading "Geddes on waveguides". I am interested in the Foam plug for his waveguides. The idea makes a lot of sense and is (relatively) easy to test. I know that Geddes "specs" 30-ppi foam but (1) it's expensive, (2) I'm cheap. So I have experimented with other options. No doubt Geddes and others have done this too, but I've found very little to none about it here. Anybody direct me to "prior art" on such?
Note that I have nothing against Dr. Geddes, he is highly regarded and I am just an amateur, a Soldermizer after all. I do not doubt that he arrived at his conclusions after much research. However, is a much cheaper alternative 90% as effective?
My "investigations" such as they are, to date, are in my Unity U15 and used:
Layers to make a conical plug, using a fiber air filter sold at a big-box home improvement store. I spot glued it together. I used this for several months. I could not tell a difference.
It is important that I have not taken any measurements, because (1) I'm lazy and (2) I lack anything resembling rigorous test equipment or resources.
Change for change's sake: I had bought some poly-fill, to actually stuff pillows, and have a bunch left over. "Hmm" I said to myself, "why not stuff the waveguides with some?" This I did: this fill supposedly does not settle. I kept the biggest disc of the air filters for the "grill" and to keep the poly-fill in. Again, it works fine, sounds ok, no measurements done 🙂
As noted else where, my system sounds much better when the mids and tweets are wired in phase with each other
It'd be interesting to see more reports of on-the-cheap HOM damping but you probably won't get them from me.

Clarification: Gedless != Geddy Lee
Gratzie! I will-a read that-a link, with-a Google Traduzzione 😀
A few days into listening to my U15 with Poly-fil plugs, my overall impression is that the sound is more comfortable, like a fluffed-up pillow 🙄
In unrelated silliness, I have often been confused between Dr. Earl Geddes' company, "Gedlee" and a similar named Canadian Bass player (Geddy Lee), who if nothing else, proves that one can be successful in show biz despite physical appearance 🙂 . The only thing the 2nd has in common is he makes loud noises 😉 To clear this up, here are the distinct icons:

In the past you could just buy foam plugs from Earl Geddes, it wasn't all that expensive. Don't know if he still does that now that he's retired, though.
Saying that fast gives it an altogether different (and I assume incorrect!) meaning!
a Soldermizer after all

What, you don't think the Soldermizer has enough lead in his pencil ;^)?Saying that fast gives it an altogether different (and I assume incorrect!) meaning!
Another stupid pun
The designer has made a special app for people who want to design a sloppy horn, full of HOM, horn honk, and other distortions, such as a Soldermizer would create: HornRasp.

Latest mod! (yawn)
After many hours of reading about horns, HOMs, etc. (really) my Yorkville U15 horns now sport the low-cost 'mods' of:
In place of 30 PPI rikki tikki ulated foam, Poly-Fil to taste.
leftover "grill" (round disk) of air conditioner filter from first plug mod;
and the coup de grace
A genuine towel cowl (scrap towel, rolled into a tube and sealed with -- of course -- Gorilla Glue, formed into a "round over", and held onto the 'grill' with decorative tooth picks 🙂 I can post a photo, but why?
My engineering skills are on par with the Ronco Veg-o-Matic* 😀
* I can't believe these are still made and sold. Since 1963! I am not affiliated...it slices! It dices! 🙂

None dare call it a scam...
Yesterday (02-03-18) there was a pair of SH-50 on auction on Ebay. I was tempted to bid as they were in my home state (near Miami FL). I thought it curious that a web store that sold shoe insoles would sell an expensive pair of PA speakers "pulled from a church." That listing was removed or disappeared by mid-day Sunday 02-04, apparently replaced by a similar listing this time by an Australian company. The photo and the description are identical. Meanwhile, the speakers have magically moved to Oklahoma. Oh, did I mention the seller offers free shipping worldwide? 😎
If this be a scam, I don't see what they gain by pulling the listing early.

I clicked the buy it now tab on that pair of SH50’s two weeks ago just to see what happened. The page switched to an off ebay page asking for my direct email so they could send me direct payment instructions. I punched straight out of that page, opened one of the sites golf club trinket auctions and sent them a note that their store had been hacked.
I got an email early Monday from the rightfull site owner saying their site had indeed been hacked over the weekend.
They probably pull the listing when someone “buys” them. One can’t be too carefull these days.
Barry.
