Help selecting Midrange driver please - PR170M0 ?

Hello,

I have a set of Newform R645 speakers.
These have a pair of 7” Scanspeak bass / mid drivers per side with the Newform 45” ribbon. As it turns out, I love the ribbons, but dont like the bass drivers playing up in the midrange, so I mounted the ribbons on another set of boxes with 6” PHL bass mid drivers, and crossed them over with a digital crossover. Sounds great 😀

However, I now have a spare set of boxes with a pair of 7” Scanspeaks per side. 🙁
Interestingly, the boxes are at a height where adding a second enclosure on top with a tweeter and midrange would put the mid at ear height and this has me thinking that a 3 way for a winter project might be fun. :cannotbe:

The urge is also added too by the fact that I have a set of G2 ribbons collecting duct :whazzat:

So, if one was to do a 3 way with the 7” Scanspeaks for the bass and the G2 for the treble, what would be a good midrange ?.

The system will be active so driver efficiency matching is not all that important.
At the moment, the Audax PR170MO is looking interesting, but does any one have any other suggestions ?.

Thanks,

Branwell

I think we need more detail. Give us some T/S parameters and an indication on what kind of sound/type of music you're listening to or looking for.

With your spec's any mid between 100[hz] and 10000[hz] has a match?? 😀

To choose a speaker does not solely depend on fysical spec's. One's ears are far more important....🙂
