Help repairing Proxima Ultralight LX

Hello,

I got a 'new' Proxima Ultralight LX pj, and it began showing artifacts and failed column on the screen. As it is LCD, I think it is something on the wiring or circuitry for the 'red color'.

By the way, I found a part of the main board somewhat rusty on the solder borders, I will try to melt the solders there and see what happens but, anyway, I need some directions as I am not even sure that I am messing up around is with the red display circuitry or not...

Well, I took some pics of the PJ's images:

I have a huge non-red column on the right of the screen and flickering/fuzzy red all around the screen. The strange thing is: when the pj is cool, everything shows nice. Some minutes running, and the "main" non-red bar appears on the left, a bunch minutes after the red flickering appears all around on the screen.

I have opened the case and examined everything to see if there is something evidently dead, and all I found is just that part of the circuit beginning to rust (not absolutely sure that its rust as the tan thing were still on the base of the solders, and the board was a little 'whiter' than in other parts maybe for exposure to the light).

If anyone has already messed up around with this baby, please fill ideas here! 🙂 If anyone got schematics for this pj (Proxima Ultralight LX), any help is welcome too.

Some notes about the pics:
1. the texture on most closed-in pics is from the wallç
2. some 'dead-pixels' (four in fact) found on the red area are holes in the wall
3. my cellphone sucks in pictures so I emphasized only what is viewable

Other things to consider:
- I am using my LCD monitor on the back of the pj to check if image is allright - the only glith is a little shadow (real little and faint) due to the pj's cable that is not shielded.
- All cables are small (around two meeters)
- The problems on the screen happen also when I adjust to ordinary video and are all displayed on the OSD native from the PJ
- Specificly the left non-red bar is still if I move or resize the image (the bar do not follow the pixels in any way)
- The bar is too exact and the way it appears -- from ok, throught flickering and then full non-red -- show that this could not be something inside the pj's internal or external light paths.

Thanks all -- i'll post results as they show up.

Ah, and sorry if this problem fits better to the LCD section -- I am unsure as it is a DIY repair, but my pj isn't DIY but is a LCD pj... heh lil confused, if it fits better to the other forum let me know

Well guess what...

I changed the green LCD panel to the red one and... despite the RGB needs fine tuning to align the colors, the bar turned to non-green so, it is no board problem at all but darn LCD panel...

I think I am in deep trouble for the only way will be to find a new LCD panel...

I noticed the following between the LCD panels:
The blue and former green panels have a wider 'glued area' (a shape we can see as if there were water between the glasses)

The red panel has a smaller circle... Anyway it is strange as the problem starts gradually, although it seems the panel has to sleep hours maybe days to 'recover' a bit of its time before bars.

I think all I can do is remove that panel and tackle with that and see if for god's miracle it gets fixed...

Any suggestions on how to buy this panel? Is it common to the average projectors, or will I have to find another old LX to rip one apart from it?

Thankies..
