Hi, I have an older Toshiba 35" TV. The picture looks like its getting squashed on the screen. The bottom 3-5 inches are completly black. Anyone know what it could be? Also, are there an TV forums like this DIY forum? Thanks,
Derek

Vert trouble
Get can of cold spray, radio shack has it. Then find the vert output IC, and identify the electroletic caps in the area. If the problem is maby a little better when the set is warm, you probably have a defect called ESR in one or more of the electroletic caps in the circuit. If it is ESR, when the bad cap is sprayed the sysmptom will get worse. Be carful because if you spray it too much it will cause damage to the IC. The idea is to watch the screen and see what cap or caps cause the problem to get worse and replace it. Usually you will find more than just one bad cap, I have found several is some cases, usually i find two bad ones, sometimes I find just one.
