Hi everyone, new to the forum 🙂
I'm afraid my first post is seeking guidance! I'm posting on behalf a friend who runs a PT business, who requested my limited knowledge on sound systems to advise him on a small and inexpensive PA system for gym use. About 6 months ago I suggested he go with the following package system: SubZero 150W PA System with FX Mixer and Speakers at Gear4music.com
All was well, though unfortunately about a week ago the volume output seemed to drop to around half of what it was previously giving out. You have to crank everything up to get ok volume. A little static creeps in and out occasionally, though actual sound quality seems fine from what I can tell. The music source comes from either an iphone or iPad, and volume is at maximum for both devices. I've tried simple things from unplugging-replugging and changing the jack-to-phono cable.
The system has been setup in exactly the same spot for 6 months, so no damage, movement or wear and tear at all.
As I mentioned, my knowledge on the ins-and-outs of PA systems is very limited so would very much appreciate any insight to what could be wrong! Many thanks 🙂

Not much to go on there, I'd suggest take it back to the shop, and claim it under warranty, if that doesn't work buy another one.
Here are the hard facts about PA gear, $199 only buys you an entry level unpowered mixer from any major brand, getting a whole PA system for that money means you bought cheap disposable chinese gear which isn't even worth fixing when it breaks. If you take the system to an electronics repair shop they may find something simple like a cold solder joint but as you can imagine it won't take long to rack up more in repair labor costs than this gear is worth.
Nah, look on the back at the effects loop jacks. Plug a spare cord from send directly to return and see if the amp wakes up. I suspect your return jack cutout contact has become electrically dirty.
Thank you for the replies! I'll be visiting my friend's setup tomorrow, and will look into the details brought up.
I forgot to mention in my initial post that both the CD/Tape and Master volume knobs are both turned to full.
