Dear All,
After many months of deliberation i finally bought a LCD panel, QA-1650 and a 3M 9080 OHP (2,500 lumens).
Can anyone advise regarding the settings for the panel? There are option for baud rate, stop bit, 7 or 8 bit etc. so i was just wondering if there is an optimal setting to these options.
Secondly, i find that the projected image, especially in movies with dark scenes are very dark and if i change the contrast ratio, the bright scenes look totally washed out, so i guess my ohp is not putting out enough light. Would it be worthwhile to purchase a new bulb (it takes 275W bulb) would this be sufficient in your opinion or would i be better off getting a much brighter ohp like the 3M 9800 (6000 lumens, 400W bulb)
I usually watch movies at night, so was thinking that a new bulb in my 9080 ohp (2,500 lumens) would do the trick, any ideas???
Is difficult to replace the bulb in an ohp?
Thanks in advance for all the input, much appreciated,
best regards,

Hi,
In my experience, when your bulb gets old, it just loses color quality and lumens.
I presently use a 3M9800 OHP coupled with a Samsung 152n. While I have never witnessed any other OHP projector in actions, I will say that I am well pleased with my results. I use the standard EVD 400W bulb, the cheapies. (say $7 a piece)
I have the contrast on the Samsung at full tilt. I also have the blue channel a little higher than the Red or Green, to make for a more natural white color, although that might not apply for your panel at all.
The bulbs are very easy to replace in my 9800. You literally pull straight out on the bulb and it slides out, then just use a paper towel to hold the new bulb while pushing the leads into position, very easy.
I can watch a movie in semi darkness with excellent contrast, although pure darkness is optimal.
Hope this helps.
