Help needed with TB w3-926sd, w8-670c

Hey,

I couldn't resist myself when I saw w3-926sd at 11e per unit. I also bought TB w8-670c as it was 30e (same unit than in logitech z-560). Now I have to figure out what to do with them. I am not sure if I calculate boxes for them but I'll try.

I was thinking about making small 2.1 setup for my desktop but there are some problems with that.

I have very small space for the FR units on the desk. The width has to be as small as possible, also depth should be kept to minimun (less than 20 cm, less would be better), height can be little more ( up to 30 cm or maybe more I think). Any suggestions on should I use sealed or BR and tuned to what? The amp will be topping tp-20 mk II (ta2020)

I was also wondering if I could somehow intercorporate that sub to my design as I am thinking that I can't get very low on those fullranges. I was wondering if I could source plate amp from an old logitech 2.1 system. I have no idea on the crossover on that though. I'd like to keep the sub as small as possible aswell. I'd rather have smaller size than very low bass. The size can be less than 30 cm deep, 25 wide and 60 cm tall.

I would also like to try bass management from via HD audio. It has possibility for low pass cut-off frequency on 25 Hz incrediments but not sure if it has any highpass for the fullranges.

I could also use the sub for HT use with my HK avr-142. Then the size could be different.

Any idea if I can make anything sensible from these and what should I do?

I'm in a similar position to you, I have a pair of W3-871C & have just ordered 2x W8-670C to go with them. I'm thinking about making a 2.2 system (eg 2x satellites & 2x subs, with passive crossovers in the subs) but I'm probably going to make the satellites larger than you're thinking.

I'll definitely be interested to see what people suggest for the subs though, atm I'm trying to compare the W8-670C to the W8-740C which a lot more people seem to have used - we might be able to adapt a box designed for the latter & use it for the former.

I actually started a thread this morning here, which might get some replies useful to you as well --> http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/subwoofers/202276-small-subs-bedroom-uk-availability.html#post2815360

Oh I also bought a pair of the W3-926SD because they were so cheap, I might swap them with my W3-871C when I've built the boxes & see which I like more 🙂

Let's hope we will get some answers. I might go for passive crossovers aswell if I have to but I am thinking that a plate amp with suitable crossovers would do.

But if someone has suggestions for cheap plate amp that might work I'd be happy. Hypex modules are nice but I'm not sure if I want to pay over 100e for my 30e driver.

That pc speaker set was no-go. It was old creative with 12 W + 2x 4,5 W but I bought an used plate amp. It is simex brand but unknown type and power (over 100 W atleast)

I guess I am one step closer now. I'd just have to design the boxes but I think winisd will help me with that.
