Help needed with building tripath powered kef uni-q driver, 12v boombox
I've got a project i'm trying to put together for a high end 12volt boom box.
The components I have so far are -
- a pair of Kef Q Compacts
- SMSL Tripath amp (TA2021 amp)
I've got the system running as is, and it performs well, but I would like to integrate into a single cabinet and if possible reduce the overall volume of the enclosure.
The design idea I have is to use passive radiators rather than ported box, and to place each driver in a sealed unit within the main box with apposing radiators for each driver. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of construction? What gain can be made in box volume using passive radiators?
Cosmetically I'm going to try and retain the look of the kef speakers, potentially using the existing speaker surrounds.
I'm also looking to try an improve the input gain, as my primary source is a android phone or mp3 player. I get good gain from a laptop but the volume is lower when connected to a phone. Is there a sensible way to adjust this without attacking the tripath amp too much?
Last question... I would like to add a battery, but am not sure of the simplist way to add charger facilities, and help with this circuit would be appreciated.

Not getting much interest in this so far, so I will do a little update. I've managed to salvage a 12v 7.2Ah sealed lead battery from a small UPS, which is a bit bigger/heaver than planned, but guess it will be a good source for plenty of hours playback.
I'm beginning to go off the idea of passive radiators, and instead going to try and replicate the volume of the original speakers, and re-use the original ports.
My design is heading towards a long thin enclosure with sealed ends for each driver with a space for battery and amp in the middle. I'm still trying to find a solution for charging, and running some sort of pre-amp to up the input gain from portable mp3 players/mobile phones. Anyone know a good option for this? I've searched so many posts here and not got very far.
