I would always use 10 watt resistors unless otherwise specified by the designer. You can download Xsim for free and that will enable you to view dxo files, also help you design crossovers if you ever want to do that.

Just a short message to thank everyone who contributed here, especially Geoff who put in a lot of work and gave me excellent advice.
I have ordered all of the parts for the project and I will let you all know the results as soon as the build is complete. Hopefully that will be sometime next week, all going well.

Hello all,
I just wanted to thank you all for helping me to finish this project. Thanks to your help I managed to build crossovers and purchase suitable drivers. The first speaker is finished and the sound is very good. I am very pleased with the result and I am sure their owner will be too. I particularly want to thank Geoff who held my hand (figuratively) all the way through. and the drivers in the cabinet. I took the photo before I removed the dust from drilling the holes for the drivers.
There are two photos below, the finished crossover
It is wonderful, with all the negativity your hear about the internet, to experience kindness and helpfulness to this exent. Thank you all.

Although late to the party and you're all set, as an fyi for the future, Parts Express sells decent crossovers - usually 2nd order - for 2 and 3-way designs - they also sell parts incl. audio grade resistors. And they have tech support folks you can call and ask for advice - not just on crossovers but also drivers that will fit various projects. They have typically xover points like 2-way at 2,500 Hz, 3-ways as well as high and low pass filters for subs. Their stuff is reasonably priced.
The process Geoff proposed and Ralf's crossover I am confident will have resulted in a better speaker than what you proposed.
Pre-built crossovers never take into account variable driver responses and impedances and will often result in wildly non-flat responses.
