Help me wire my ballast

ok it hasnt gotten here yet but still. I just ordered a 150w icecap ballast, Im guessing i have to install my own on/off switch somewhere in the power cord. Has anyone wired an icecap ballast? Can anyone give me instructions? Im sure i could figure it out on my own but i would rather not shock myself, ruin the ballast, or blow up the bulb.

Here is what i know, if the ballast doesnt have an on/off switch i need to install one someplace on the power cord, maybe just on one wire? i know the ballast has ground wires that need to go from the ballast to the socket, but the socket im using is a g12 and im not sure if it has anywhere for ground.

Any info, picutes tips would help.

heya bud ok when u get your ballast it will come with a few different coloured wires, u will need to look at the sticker on the top wich tells u what colours for what voltage, u will have a green wire that should be earth, that will get conected to the chassis of your projector (this saves u from a shock) ok then u will have the newtral wire that runs to the bulb socket and another will be active, that is the other that runs to the socket, now for the power in u need to see the colour wire for the active for your voltage, i think ice cap is black for 110v or white im not sure but what ever it is the sticker will tell u, the other wire u got to connect is the ative and thats it, anyway get a hold of me and give me a pic if u can and ill tell ya what to do.

how much did u get the ballast for and where did u get it?

use the switch in your ohp mind the rating though u dont want to overload it, ie:FIRE! lol it should be alright though just put the active wire from the mains to the outer of a switch and the ballast active in wire to the center pin on the switch, im talking a 2 pole switch here

Actually i plan on using it with my commerical projector, I was hoping to wire it to the power switch of the projector but for testing i wanted to install a switch in the power cord. I guess for testing I could just plug it in and unplug it whenever i need. Do you think its possible to wire it to my commercial projector power switch, or to just tear out the stock ballast and use the wires that go to it?

I got my ballast today, its a bit bigger than i expected (and so is the socket). I think im just gonna plug it into a surge protector and switch that on and off for testing it. And hopefully i will be able to wire it into my projector. To connect the wires should i use solder then put tape over them? I also noticed nothing is marked with + or - that seemed kind of weird to me. Does anyone know which side of the power plug is + (bigger prong or littler?). And on the ballast it has a ~ and an "0", which of those is positive?

thanks.
