Teac CD 5, looks good but internally not that special. Better look for a VRDS 10 
Please realise that Teac cdplayers have good to very good mechanics but the DAC's are not the best there are nor are the output stages. Used as a transport with a separate DAC is when they excel.

Yes I knew about that, a friend has a VRDS-7 and my Arcam Alpha one sounds better to me. I intend to use it as a transport (BTW do you know the CD-P4000, is it worthwhile to use it that way ?), since I can get them quite cheap and then build myself a non-os DAC (external or internal.. still don't know).
