Try this. if you use a pc for a tone generator you don't even need a frequency counter, just an amp and a meter!

There's a little Velodyne powered sub model CHT-8, which I happen to have lying around - sorry I'm not motivated tonight to tear it apart and look at the markings on the driver, but the cone, surround and dust cap look exactly like yours. That might be a starting point for more research if you like.

Velodyne puts it in a ported enclosure that looks to be around 1 square foot and drives it with 130W RMS, claims a -3 at 35 Hz. It's a decent little sub for music in smaller rooms, IMHO.
