I am planning to build an amplifier to drive either Jon Marshes' Modula MTM or MT speaker which uses a Dayton RS180 midbass and a Seas 27TDFC tweeter (I haven't decided which format I'll use yet). I have been trying to decide whether to build Rod Elliots Project 101 amp or to use the USD 180 module. Either should provide more than enough power, so the question is, what would you use, and why? I have some experience in wiring up amps and power supplies, but no design expertise. I've got relatives with test equipment that could help me test and or debug after I get everything wired up. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry about the incorrect amplifier designations in the previous post, I was referring to the UCD180 module versus the ESP project 101. I haven't had the opportunity to audition either of the amplifiers so I don't know how they compare. My main concerns are how well they handle low impedance loads and how they compare from a dynamics stand point. The impedance on the MTM speaker I referred to drops to around 3 ohms, so that would be a concern for a lot of amplifiers.
Thanks for any and all input

I haven't dealt with the Hypex UCD180 but I've built 6 P101's.
I really like the P101, its a simply amplifier to build yet offers a great deal of quality. It was my first DIY amp and I think its an excellent choice as such because of the simplicity, actually it might be better to build something else because once you do it spoils you and you have to start looking higher up the food chain to get noticeable improvements.
Its interesting that a good chap called Still4given has built and compared the Leach amp, Krell KSA50 mk2 and ESP P101. The differences he noted were all minor and in the end it came down to the krell sounding smoother and the leach and P101 having more get up and go. The P101 had the best bass in his mind.
I can only compare my P101's to commercial stuff I used in the past. I'd say they better the Parasound H2205A they replaced and that's a decent amp in its own right (John Curl design).
