Excellent advice from doozerdave. In fact, get his preamp book; very easy to understand and minimal math! It really gets you to the next level of understanding. Highly recommended!
I guess I should have been more clear about last post. Get Valve Wizard's book, follow doozerdave's advice, lots of free info at the website. Try to find his power supply book too. He said he doesn't like it and has since stopped selling it but I learned a lot.
Good tip. I can vouch for Valve Wizard's book too. I've learned tons of great stuff. Merlin Blencowe, the author is an active forum member as well.
Full agree alright. His website is amazing. I understand probably 80% of it... which is about 100% more than other sites I've read on the same topics.
Circuit build has stalled. Place I ordered the parts from sent the wrong turrets/board (and screen resistors). Bluebell amps in the uk have donated some 100R 1w's, and correct turrets have been ordered. But it'll be a few days before I can start again.

One small tip on drilling chassis. As a commercial electrician for 35 years, I've done plenty of drilling holes in cabinets for conduit. To me the biggest mistake people make is having too fast drill speed. Give good pressure and slow speed will generate less heat and get the job done just as fast. Also, using cutting fluid helps too.
One other one is when drilling larger holes, use a smaller bit first, then increase to the size you want. This helps keeping things in line.
