Hello to all.
I will start my first tube amp build and I'm thinking of a few mods.
This will be the build:
Amp Maker: Guitar amp kits and parts :: Guitar amp kits :: WF-55 4W Tweed style amp
And here is the schematic:
http://www.ampmaker.com/images/ak00kit/ak00sc2.jpg
Here is a link to a tonestack i'm copying (but i won't use a middle pot)
https://images.talkbass.com/attachments/a_amptone1-gif.2499258/
It's basically a fender tweed champ.
I think it's a good first build project.
I'm thinking of doing the following mods:
-2 switchable boosts (can be treble boost, full range boost or no boost in each switch)
-switchable blackface tone stack
-skeaper impedance selector
I've attached 3 images:
-schematic with tonestack switch marked
-layout plan to put one switchable boost (the second is exactly the same but over the R6 in the original schematic)
-layout to the switchable tonestack
So... can anyone help me check if this will work or has any better ideas to apply these mods?
Thanks a lot

You need C1 to block DC when you bypass.
Tonestack adds considerable loss. Look at AA Champ for how Leo did it.

IMHO: build it dead-stock per the instructions. If you are new (or out of practice) a happy Champ is a challenge. Don't add complications. Anyway the stock tweed Champ is a marvelous thing. Makes you play the guitar instead of playing-with the amp.

Hi, thanks for the reply
I've build some pedals but never a tube amp, or any amp... So yes, I agree that it's best to build it standard and mod if afterwards.
I'm trying to do the mods switchable so I don't loose the original circuit. And I believe that with these mods I won't even have to unsolder anything, just add new components. Im just planning ahead while I the kit doesn't arrive 🙂
I know that the tone stack comes with loss of gain, that's why I'm doing the boost mods also.
My main doubts are regarding the switchs (if they are wired correctly) and the tone stack schematic I posted (I don't know if the layout I drawed matches the fender schematic).
Regarding the boost mods, it's supposed to be what fender did in the champ, at least it's a recommended mod in the ampmaker site, they just don't have any switching
About C1, I know I need it whit the tone stack off, but do I need it with the tone stack on?
Thanks again
