This is the size im working with and I understand its pretty shallow. Should it give me any concerns?
39" long x 30" wide x 9".
This is fitting under and ottoman I built so it has to stay that shallow if I want to build it.
Those dimensions come to about 4.0 cuft
Im not sure if I should do a big round port or do a slotted design. Ive been using this speakerboxlite software to get me around the idea of what id like. Any ideas or changes?
powered by one open line on my Behringer 6000d so should be plenty of power to get it done.

A slotted port is probably the better choice. But you will most definitely need some solid bracing between the top and bottom panels, otherwise they will make a lot of distortion. The shallow box sure isn't ideal (because you'll need all that bracing), but as long the dimensions are kept out of the 0,5x, 1x, 1,5x 2,x etc, it should not be any serious issue at all. A thing to keep in mind is the fact that the driver should have some space in front in order to function properly. Another thing is that if there is a small hole on the back of the magnet, there should be a bit space between the bottom of the magnet and the rear wall.
Just know that your bass transients won't be particularly good when tucking it under a ottoman.

I plan on using a wooden dowel to get strength inside also the slot port would bell with bracing. Probably 2 sections for the wooden dowel I’m thinking. Closer to the driver.
I think the sub will have 2-3” of clearance behind it still. My ottoman is raised where I have the sub positioned so it can move freely to do its thing and not hit anything. There’s a about a 5” gap to the top from the underside. The sub will be facing upward obviously.
What do you mean transients will suffer from a more shallow mount? Does the slot port have to be closer to the side? That’s what I’m confused about and what location to put it.
