Help me a bit with simple optics, please

Hi!

I've been looking for suitable lamps for my semiDIYprojector (LCD-projector retrofitted with some optics and lamp from diaprojector) and now I found a small treasure...
I get decent image with the standard 150w FCS 50hrs life halogen (a little dim but its ok for nighttime viewing or at evening also). The lamp was old and has now died. I think new 150w would be brighter and about ok 'cause this 150w lamp was REALLY old.

Now I found a 100w halogen at the local store. They promise it'll give 2200 lumens and last for 2000 hours and costs only 10e! Well... I am afraid that it might be too dim with one lamp (haven't tried yet), but I was thinking about doing some small modifications to the lamp base to fit two of them (I think my transformer could take the extra 50w compared to the standard lamp). I've made an image about the idea http://robo.zapto.org/sony/lampproblem.pdf. The basic setup would probably be two of them side by side or on behind another as can be seen on the image.

My question is how would this kind of two lamp setup work compared to the standard 150w lamp in the exactly right spot?
Any other ideas how to use these very long lasting 100w lamps in my project?

WHoa! 31 people have checked this post out and non can say anything about what happens compared to the one lamp on the "sweet spot"? Do I have to assume that we all on this forum are actually some "trial-n-error"-method DIY dudes?
I have seen lots of posts that have quite complicated stuff about optics, where are those guys, dont they read this forum anymore?

I think you will loose light in the end. With one lamp in front of the other you will loose your focus of the lamp, with one beside the other you will have BOTH lamps off of the centre line of your reflector.
