So i have a g major rack unit and i want to use the channel switching relays on it but both my amps footswitches use the 7 pin DIN cables. I want to switch one end of each of those cables to a 1/4 inch plug so i can connect that to my g major and be able to switch channels from my midi board. Anyone know how to convert these ends?
Well it very much depends upon what is at the other end of that DIN cable. You are going to have to make a custom cable or have a company do that for you. But it may not be as simple as wires running from A to B. For example in many Peavey amps, there is a pin that must be grounded before the amp will even look at the footswitch signals.
Well--- we would have to know the brand of amp and what you want to control, (like boost or whatever). Also I would guess that the control outputs on the g-major are a switch closure. pehaps even a relay closure. This setup can be made to control most any kind of on/off function but somtimes it takes a bit of additional circutry, somtimes not. Get out the manual for the G major and look for the information on those switched outputs and post it. Just post the description of the controls as listed in the manual. More information
