I have a question about Rod Elliott's (ESP) Project 39. In the image for the basic soft start circuit, it looks like R1 connects to both Q2 Source and Gate. Or another interpretation could be that the ground does not connect to Q2 Source? I just can't tell if there's a connection happening at that spot.
Does anyone else see what I mean?😕

I think the "gate" connection is just drawn off-center and I'm getting confused by that, and R1 just connects to gate. But I wanted to make sure I'm not being daft.
Yes, the circuit looks correct as drawn. That's a standard symbol for a depletion mosfet.
There is no connection between the gate and source of Q2.
