My father in law (now suffering dementia) has one of the pictured valve preamps built in a glass spherical shape. Can anyone point me to further information about it? Thanks!
Not a good physical design. Attaching the RCA cables will tend to make it fall over, and the case surely can't be legal electrically.
I suspect it was sold as a construction kit of parts. I am sure I have seen similar designs around for some time, but I don't seem to be able to find anything online.

Thanks Jean-Paul. Unfortunately Midnightmayhem I only took a single photo and I've left Japan where the unit is. I thought its design was so distinctive that someone would recall seeing them before, and I am surprised it's so hard to find out about it. I suspect Kenjisan bought it either complete or as a kit, because it has a silk-screened top panel and I don't think he would have done that himself. I think he's had it about 5 years. I like the 'ship in a bottle' analogy.
