Hi
I need a replacement for this pot, but am unable to find anything locally. If you could tell me who the manufacturer is I could try an dig up someone who sells it.
It's a 10-turn wirewound pot, 22K with an extra-short 4mm diameter spindle and associated bush. The closest part I could find is 10K, and the spindle is longer than the others so there will be some cosmetic issues, provided the 10K value does work at all. This is a replacement for a bias setting potentiometer for one of the output tubes of a Ayon Audio Spirit II amplifier.
Of course, they went on annual holiday the day the amp landed on my workbench 🙂 so we can't get a replacement till September, and the local market is pretty hopeless. They did turn up a 10K part (and are asking ~$30 for it!!!) with the right bush, and a 20K servo pot with no endstops and a 6mm shaft and bush - which won't fit the panel hole.
The pot is marked 'JWJ' - not so clear in the pic - and appears to be a standard part except for the spindle. The tubes are fine (owner claims the tubes work OK in the other channel, not had an opportunity to test) and the pot has fused to a dead short, putting the affected tube to pretty much zero bias. I hesitate to swap in a carbon pot because if it goes open the tube will turn to full bias instantly...
Any help is appreciated 🙂
