I NEED this power adapter! I'm attaching the power adapter pin-out diagram. If someone could give some VERY simple instructions on making my own adapter using a regular computer power supply that would be great as well. I'm getting desperate. I've had a QA-2500 sitting around my house for a few months while I've looked for an adapter. HELP!!!!

Hi bagger,
If you dont want to solder, so Take the schematics and the PC Power Suply to any technician or electronic repairing local.
It will be really ease to them to solder the conector to the PC PS in just minutes and you will have your Power Suply working for a couple of bucks.
Best wishes.
Bernardo.

The connector is Sharps proprietary connector (I.E., cant be found anyplace) so you either have to be happy with just shoving wires into the holes or rip it apart and keep a powersupply permanently attached to it. Sucks Sharp had to make it difficult. I guess that's business.😡 🙄 😎
You should be able to find that connector either at a Radio Shack store or in their commercial catalog. You may also look at a PS2 mouse/keyboard connector - looks similar to me. If it is a PS2 connector, you'll have to carefully snip out a pin or two as well as the plastic tab inside the connector. That's what I did to make a power supply cable for a different panel at least. Let me know if you need help finding that connector still - I'm almost certain that Radio Shack has it in their commercial catalog, but I don't know where mine went to (they keep them behind the counter in the store).

Connector
It seems more like a standar S-Video connector to me.
They are really inexpensive and can be found at any electronic components store.
But also you can compare your mouse or keyboard connector with the one in your panel to see if it is just a PS/2 one.
Good luck !

Wahoo! I think I found it!
Check this out ... I think I juts found your connector (99% certain). I found a graphic that looks just like yours at http://www.cablestogo.com/resources/din.asp in the 4-pin mini DIN row. Apparently it is an SVHS (AKA Svideo) connector! You might also be able to find this commonly in an older Mac/Apple connector, especially for pointer devices or possible external modems. It's been a long time, but I'm almost sure that the Apple IIgs used a connector like that.
Let me know if an Svideo cable looks like it will fit. Let us know 🙂

Nope, it's not an s-video(SVHS) connector. The s-video connector is too small to fit into the slot, plus it's the wrong arrangement. The diagram I posted does almost make it look like an s-video connector, but in reality the four holes are aligned in a complete square pattern, not a trapezoid-like svideo pin configuration.
Maybe a 4-pin microphone connector as in http://users3.ev1.net/~medcalf/ztx/wire/schem.html ? I'll look at Radio Shack's commercial catalog tomorrow if I can find it.
Hack it !
At lasta if you dont have success fiding the proper connector, you can hack it.
Buy a couple of matched standar connectors and sold 1 to the PC Power suply and the other to the connector from inside the panel. You need to figure out how to pass the cable from inside the panel to outside with minimal impact over the panel case.

qa 2500 power supply
I also needed a power supply for my qa 2500 and I just happened to have a Proxima Ovation 820 panel and power supply. The supply has a different connector, but the same voltages. If anyone chooses to use this to power their 2500, the pin outs from the panel (looking at the panel) are top left=+5v, bottom left=+12v, and both right pins are rtn(ground). So far all I did was cut the plug off and tin the ends of the wires to fit into the holes, it works great! Now if anyone wants to buy an Ovation 820 I'll be selling it minus the power supply.
Regards,
Tom
