No help for my Kenwood KA-70 ???
I do have the two page .pdf schematic, but what I need is the full service manual
PS Something strange happened a couple of days ago: Instead of receiving the usual "unrecognised ..." message, I was allowed to log in to a page where even my forgotten ancient e-mail address (decades ago) was displayed. Yet, nothing else was active, and nothing was sent to a new e-mail address I proposed.
Today, business as usual - ''unrecognised etc etc "

NOT a PA300II

Still down on 5/4.. Get the following when selecting a pdf for download after logging in. An upgrade (I'm assuming!) to the download system is a positive step I hope.

Hello everyone,
My Boulder 500ae has lost its original files and there is often noise in the left channel. Coincidentally, I saw its manual on the hifiengine website, and the link is here. Can anyone help me obtain it?

be deeply grateful

Hi vinylwall,
Firstly, the website owner doesn't support people downloading for others. He won't allow his files ending up on other download sites either.
Secondly, he seems to be shut down for downloading. Not sure what the problem is. It's too bad, I needed some of those files.

Thank you for the response. I have a friend that has an MSR-24 with 2 of the channels not playing back. The site wouldn't let me register and this thread is titled "Help downloading from Hifiengine website". That's too bad about him shutting it down. Lots of great stuff there. Take care. Jimi Ray
Hi Jimi,
I used to be authorized warranty for Tascam. What is the problem he is having?
One thing to be aware of is the tape guides were too narrow, and they increased tape tension to compensate. I have seen the odd bad relay as well.

Thank you for the info. I'm not well versed in repairing tape machines. The most I've done is tearing apart a Pioneer RT-909 and replacing the belts and rubber rollers. They turned to goo! The machine works great now.
The MSR-24 actually belongs to my friend's brother, but he has recorded on it many many times. His brother is being wish-washy about me using the machine. I want to digitize some of the recordings they have done on it, but he said that the last time it was used, 2 of the tracks didn't play back. He didn't say whether they are adjacent tracks, nor if it didn't record on those tracks either. I've done some internet searches and found a couple of ideas (re-seating headstack connections for example). Was hoping the maintenance/service manual might have some troubleshooting steps as well. Hi vinylwall,
I'm sorry, this job is well past a DIY effort.
DO NOT TOUCH THE HEADS !!!!!
Get it to a fully equipped shop for service. Either that, or sell it. This is not a hobbyist or non-audio shop type service. It isn't the best machine out there, but it is a good machine and better than stuff like Fostex. There are things going on that consumer machines don't do.
You are far more likely to mess things up than to fix it. Even if you get it working, it probably wouldn't be working correctly.
I'm sorry to have to tell you that.

Hello,
Can anyone help with a copy the service manual for the Pioneer KH-4455?

Thank you.

Thank you.
I heard from HiFiEngine's owner.
Due to download abuse, he has suspended downloads as costs exceeded reasonable levels. That and his information is appearing on other sites across the web (I have seen this) which he specifically does not allow.
His reaction is entirely reasonable. He isn't a large commercial enterprise. For now, everything is in a holding pattern. We shall see what the future holds.

This is a hobby for him and he is busy at work. I think he is frustrated, just a guess on my part. I also offered to have a paid membership.
I suspect just dealing with funds is a headache he has to figure out. It is income, so there would be tax implications.

Thank you Anatech.
It's good to know the background.
The whole situation is a shame.
I wonder if the gent has thought about maybe selling the site ?
I also wonder if 'donations' is a possible way forward for them ?
At any rate, it would be a travesty to see such a valuable resource vanish.
I have submitted multiple schematics over the years.
Maybe DIYAudio should shut these threads asking for 'help for manuals' from HiFiEngine and VinylEngine ?

If he has an explicit policy against redistribution, perhaps there is an argument to lock the threads.
But he does not own the documents, even if he watermarks them, since they are either the property of the company
that created them, or in the public domain. And he solicits people to upload documents that are not his property.
He may be expecting too much in an age of free, instant communication of information. But people are willing to pay
a reasonable amount for convenience. It might be best if he charged a small fee, per month or per document.
But if he does not want to charge anything, then why is he upset when people redistribute the documents?
