Hey there I just bought my JL 500/1 Amp for my 01 Accord. I was intent on buying 2 12' Alpine type R's, but then I read so much about Adire Shivas that I was gonna buy those. I'm just wondering if there are any other subs within the 2 for ~$300 price range that I should consider. Also, that amp will be more than enough for the Shivas or the Type R's right? Thanks!

There are some others but for a car that size 2 12" woofers is just plain overkill, unless you into spl competition. If you just want to play music at levels that won't cause hearling loss, a single 10" would be sufficient. Remeber there's room gain and the smaller the space the more bass you get.
If you really are set on the 12" just use one Shiva, after all they will take 350 watts per voice coil. Check out www.adireaudio.com for their other drivers, and see what best suits your needs. Again if it's just to play music at safe levels you don't need 12" subs in a car. Their newest driver is the Extremis IIRC and a pair of those in a car would also do extremely well and give you plenty of bass and spl.
