Many people who aren't retired feel that way too. Major depressive disorder can have that effect. As can long COVID apparently. Burnout can be a serious motivation killer. When people are retired it's hard to distinguish bad behaviour from just being down in the dumps and unable to get going. A lot of people get stuck and lose their motivation, putting things off forever. They don't like to face up to the fact that this is happening in reality and may even resent being badgered constantly for action and results.

Writing from the other side of the globe—maybe there’s someone living nearby @Rick PA Stadel who would be willing to get the preamp?
Maybe/probably/most probably your helper found that out too.I got a lot of advice, but found it hard making advancements.
Surprised?
I wouldn´t.
So we are not dealing with a monster here.a member from that thread, off thread who was very kind and knowledgeable.
Would you accept he might have lost steam too?I started to loose steam.
Maybe you pestered him enough to accept?Thinking about it now, I wondered why under those difficult circumstances he agree to have a look at it?
Maybe he thought it was a repairable mess? ... until he actually saw it on the flesh?
Maybe you were hitting him with a hailstorm of mails? In his last response
He complained about me demanding every spare minute of his free time.
We have only your side of "dialog".
Since you dealt with him outside of DIY Audio, it´s a private deal, between you 2.Feb 4th I ask for my pre back. I offered to pay for the shipping. He said ok to that, but since then he's ignored most of my messages.
It's been been more than 4 months since I've asked for him to send my preamp back.
This obviously was a mistake. I'd like my preamp back. What can I do here guys?
Any advice? I really want my preamp back!
You can´t try to drag DIYAudio or its members into it.
See above: not a DIYAudio or members problem.Post the name of this member. The moderators will have a big problem with such behavior,
and can take measures to encourage a proper resolution.
LOVE to see that old American Tradition, Mob Lynching, is alive and well.Post his name here, and also ask the moderators to help. If his every post is followed by one or
several members asking where your preamp is, or if he is no longer allowed to post until the matter
is resolved, he may finally get around to returning it to you.
WHY do you encourage pressure methods against a Forum Member?
Do you have any PROOF things happened as described?
Even if, WHO gave you the power to do that?
Email an inquiry to the local police and copy him on it.
See above about Mob mentality.
Remember denouncing people to Police used to be a popular pastime in Germany, Russia, China and North Korea at different times .... maybe there´s some fun in it??
directdriverIt probably helps to monitor this member here and his recent activities so we know he's still alive and to pester him
Good!!! The more the merrier!!!! Mobs get better the larger they become!!!!!
FWIW I am starting to suspect DIYAudio should go all the way and plain delete this thread:
1) useless
2) it started to bring out some dark aspects of a couple members.
3) it´s starting to approach libel levels ... if it didn´t already get there.
Keeping it visible certainly helps that.
Plain closing it for new answers is not enough, if anybody in the future can read it.
Mind you, not taking sides or prejudging, not enpugh data to begin with but way more important: NONE OF MY BUSINESS.

I hate to make promises, since I made none originally and it still produced this result. But how about this:
The very next day after my wife has a working toilet to use, I will set about re-packing the unit EXACTly as it came to me. Plus, I will happily eat the shipping charges, and publish the tracking numbers herein (somewhere) so that everyone can participate.
In the meantime, I do NOT expect to write the US $21,467 check, or spend the 45 to 50 hours cleaning (mouse dooky) and hauling crap (actual crap in many cases) out of the basement, so that that plumber can saw open the basement floor and earn their due.
gregas, you are not the only -- or most important to me -- person I have grievously disappointed in recent years. Granted it doesn't count for much, but I Am Sorry.
Mr Fahey, your time and effort are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
