Hi Folks! I am an electrical engineering student at the University of Arkansas (GO HOGS!) and have interests in ham radio, flying and electronics building/repair- I especially like tubes!
Currently I have an old sansui tuner and MCS amp ( that i've nursed back to health) and have acquired an old Pioneer SX-440 receiver with some audio troubles. If anyone has any data on that beast, please let me know... Pioneer doesn't. I didn't catch anything in the archives... did I miss something there?

Valves are great, aren't they 😀 Bits of metal and plastic with silicon inside and lots of prongy things sticking out of them just aren't the same...

Sorry, I don't know all that much about vintage stuff. Try posting a thread about this in the "Tubes" forum, someone will probably know (assuming it has valves inside).

but what I really need is to find out how to hook up the speakers. I can't recall seeing jacks like these before. I have no idea how to use them. Normally I would just pop in zipcord, but I dunno. Anyone?

Ah-ha! 😀 The Radio Shack in Guadalajara doesn't have the extensive line of products of those in Canada, but I was able to pick up a 4-position Speaker Terminal Board. I used a small jigsaw to cut it into two pieces, and they each fit perfectly into the speaker slots on the back of the SX-440. Now all I have to do is secure them with some kind of glue, and I am in the music biz again. Yippee!
