To be honest, I have not yet built my special XLR output device for my soundcard (4 channels used, DSP phase inversion by kX Audio Driver) yet. Introductions always feel like being at an AA meeting and I recently read someone else using that line.
So anyways, I live in Luleå, in the northern part of Sweden. I'm some 30+ years old with widely varying interests, but too little time. This summer, for instance, I don't believe I had time to take a single photo with my DSLR camera (I blame that partly due to renovations of my flat forcing me to move out for a short while and leaving lots of stuff in boxes, but to be honest the problem is one of time and priorization).
I have been writing computer software since I was around 8 years old. Granted the first programs were actually notes passed between me and my dad who was learning BASIC for some reason or other. Since then I have learned a wide host of programming languages, including but not limited to, assembly(6502, 68K, x86, SPARC), C, C++, java and fortran. Of those languages I would pick java as my strongest and C++ second. There are also a number scripting languages I have used on occasion, but PHP is always easiest for me and perl forces me to think.
As part of a general computer interest I early became interested in electronics. I have collected a good number of components desoldered from broken monitors, PSUs and other stuff. Only problem is that until recently all transistors were in a huge bin making them less than convenient to sort through when I wanted to test something. Usually I end up ordering new parts and use them.
And from the electronics the step to diyAudio is not that long especially considering I have acute hearing bordering on dangerously good. I need to be careful around loud sounds or I may end up with tinnitus. As a result I not only have excellent hearing, but I have developed some sort of filtering capability (although this is a superpower I could try to develop some more) as I would otherwise have great trouble concentrating in areas with lots of people. I also enjoy listening to good music and have even aquired a keyboard and guitar (yes, I do own them and can make noise with them, now music on the other hand would be sweet).
It is actually recent years I have become more serious about audio quality and have gone through a path of upgrading from Soundblaster Live, to Audigy 2, to Audigy 2 ZS. I use the kX Audio Driver that gives access to the DSP on the cards and allows routing signals graphically. It is quite an excellent piece of software, but not very user-friendly. Then again, in most things I prefer function over form, which was the reason for having a rusted old car as long as it took me from point A to point B. I have some interesting plans on building a dedicated audio computer stocked with several sound cards that I may tell you all more about when I get closer to realizing that plan.
I have on several occasions stumbled in on diyAudio through google and have read a couple of longer threads just to educate myself. Finally I decided it was time to join so that I might contribute with something as well.

Yay, although I was a bit puzzled what the "Please search the forum before posting." meant. Then I scrolled up and saw the "Have you searched?" checkbox. One might think that I would remember if I have already posted an introduction. Oh well, it's not a bug, it's a feature.
