Hello everybody!
I'm Johan from the Netherlands. I have always been interested in electronics and Hifi equipment. I recently found (or actually rediscovered) this forum on the internet and figured it would be nice to finally join!
Although I work in the construction business, I've been repairing stuff since I was a little kid. I do occasionally have some hobby electronics projects or audio equipment restoration going on. Furthermore, I work as a volunteer in a local repair café as I love to keep ancient devices and equipment up and running and away from the waste bins and landfills. The stuff people bring in is just crazy! 😊.
Cheers!

Hi Johan,
Welcome to diyAudio - I've just read through your thread on recreating the NAD 3020 in DIY form - very impressive! If you can do all that by yourself, you'll find a huge number of new projects to enjoy here and plenty to learn too! I'm only just starting myself...

Welcome from west Melbourne, FL. I have also started to fix equipment, started with an nad1600
Ah very nice! That's a fantastic retro looking piece!Welcome from west Melbourne, FL. I have also started to fix equipment, started with an nad1600
I couldn't tell what I fixed repaired first. I guess it was a Technics turntable from my parents with a broken lifting mechanism. Think I was about 12 years old or so? Got my first 230VAC shock from that as well so yeah that made me remember 🙂.
But the first serious repair / recap project was my own Akai GXC-210D reel to reel taperecorder. It is still sitting here on my bench and it is working just fine as long as you have good tape and no interference. It has some issues with noise (don't put an ethernet extender into the same outlet, doh).
I forgot about any two sl1200mk2, they were unassembled, cleaned , signal cables changed and adjusted to servir manual specs. I work in it and i see a large amount of stuff becoming ewaste, so i have been trying to fix as much stuff as i can. Audio equipment is challenging due to its complexity and the burning desire to improve performance.
