Actually State College PA, USA where the snow is finally beginning to fall!
I'm currently a college senior majoring in Electrical Engineering and came across this site while searching for amplifier modules to incorporate into a thesis design project. I first came across Tripath and researched their offerings but found some interesting alternatives while searching this site. It seems that LC Audio and Hypex have some nice contenders as well. LC Audio's being the ZAPpulse 2.2 and Hypex's being the UcD180. They both seem very similar aside from the ZAPpulse having DC coupling and slightly different supply voltage requirements and prices. Does anyone have a recommendation as to which would be the better module to use in a 2 ch amplifier project? Also, Hypex's site says that the UcD180 is out of stock and will be available early January - does anyone know when they will start taking orders again? Part of the project is to design and use a regulated power supply and hance the reason I can get away with using prebuilt amplifier modules! Plus, I've always wanted to learn more about and audition one of these tiny yet powerful digital amplifiers.
My course background has been geared more towards power electronics and power system fundamentals, although I've only had a couple classes in both areas so I still have much to learn! Hopefully, some of it will be through this forum.
Good morning (in a couple hours) to those across the pond 🙂
