Hi.
I live in Wellington, New Zealand. I joined the site a few months back with the intention of just making a pair of Madisound RBR’s. Now I’ve finished them I have an itch to build another more substantial pair of speakers.

So Hello to everyone, and thanks for making a really great site.

Now looking forward to more piles of MDF dust.

Hello....

make sure to breath heavily when cutting MDF. That's IF you like to minimize your life expectancy. Took me a a few cuts before I started using a mask. DOH!

Hi aptquark, thanks for the advice.

I started out just holding my breath while I made cuts on the table saw. That was fine but I couldn't hold my breath long enough when using the router!

Now I have a mask (but still tend to hold my breath)

Hi Richard,

welcome to diyaudio!

There must be a whole lot of nasties in MDF, I have cut, routed, sanded and finished a whole lot of the stuff over the years and have always ended up with skin irritations. I know formaldahyde is one of the ingredients 😱

Probably a much better idea (if you don't have a complete dust removal system) is a helmet, with a filtered air supply on a waist belt.
