Hi all, yet another newcomer. My background is in electonics, however these days is limited to PCs (for income) and sound reproduction for fun.

Built my first crystal set in 1964, and owned a soldering iron ever since. Also interested in EFI, motor racing and photography.

My main sound system consists of a pair of Wharfedale 10" RSDD (modified) with an Altec Lansing sub, and (currently) a pair of 3" wide range Diamond MM speakers in a Hafner rear chanel setup.

Also in the collection are a pair of Altec Lansing Atlantics, (used as a yard stick) Altec Lansing 411-8As (that need foam surrounds and cabinets) and another pair of RSDD 10s (unmodified).

Yep, I like high efficiency, wide range and fast transient response.

I am currently experimenting with poly pipe and 3 and 4 inch drivers in transmission lines. Fascinating stuff. Over the years I have read and heard lots about TLs. Some of which is not true. I still cant believe the bass I was getting out of a 3" driver sitting on top of 28" of polypipe! Nothing floor shaking, but clean down to about 50Hz. The Fr is about 130Hz.

More about that later.

Geoff

Thanks Cal.

What do you mean you have a few Altec things laying arround? They should be in use. Even my 1980 vintage Atlantics get to radiate almost daily. Not as sweet as my Wharfedale top end, but not as big either.

I should finnish those cabinets one day, but it means pulling them down.

Cheers,
Geoff.
