Hi All, I'm Johnny Byrns, grandson of John W. Byrns, who owned the Byrns Oil Company, which supplied fuel & heating oil to Northern IL and all of WI. I am an electronics enthusiast, and have been around electronics since I was born, since my dad was an electrical engineer for Motorola. He helped design the first cell phone. I have an extensive collection of vintage and new audio equipment, some of which is modified from its original design by me. I have built home-brew amplifiers out of the guts of old PC speakers and such. My most recent project was a 2.1 stereo system amp board built in a 56KB/s modem enclosure. I put new binding posts for speaker connections, and blew a cruddy 4 inch speaker on its sub output. I have just in the last 6 hours acquired a Sundown Audio SAZ-1500D mono-block car amplifier. It needs new power supply MOSFETs and a couple new PNP power transistors for the amplifier side. It cost me $40 to get, saying I could repair it easily. It is double sided soldering, so it will be a challenge, even for an experienced circuit builder like me.
