My Name is Geoff Kremer and live in the UK. I've been in the Hi Fi business since the late 60's and seen lots of changes, most of which lately quite honestly I don't understand, it's all this digital stuff, I can hit a tube and it carries on working but if I so much as look at a chip the wrong way it goes pop!
I design and manufacture high quality valve amplifiers and to pay the rent repair reel to reel tape recorders, nice to see those coming back. About a year ago I was approached by Blackburn Micro Tech to help them with evaluating their new TechTube tube and I've noticed people asking about them so here I am and I would be happy to help with any other technical suggestions regarding valve gear that might be helpful.

The site has a large number on contributors from all around the world and having another Brit on board will help to balance out the lads from Oz!!
Then there are my type of fellows - loud Yanks that play Country and Western music and muck about with guitar amps and so on. Fortunately I lived in England for a few years (Ipswich) and thus have received tutoring in proper social skills from my nanny. Then I began attending soccer games and came to find that there is a time and a place for other skills a bit less social.
BTW - I've been around tubes starting out back in the 60's as well - great for keeping a mug of coffee or tea warm - eh? 😉 (Not to mention that a bit of B+ will put a snap into your step - provided you manage to survive it!)

I know what you mean about keeping coffee warm Thomas, my big silver amp has a toast attachment and I'm thinking of adding one to do eggs as well, I wonder what 560 V at 500Ma will do to an egg!javascript:smilie('😀')

RF or DC? Final pulse to the "small" RADAR I worked on was 100KV @ 2 amps and used a copper bus bar as big around as my thumb. It would make some lovely arcs and a God awful noise when things went amiss!!
I'm sure that you could do a bit of arc welding with 560V @ 500 Ma - and as far as the egg goes - hope you like 'em scrambled! 😀
