Greetings everyone, am new to this board..... have been in the market for some new speakers, and have discovered diy and am enchanted....
I figure a kit may be a good way to begin...
I have seen Jaycar's JV60 3 way kit on their site. They obviously make some great claims of their product......
Has anyone built this, or heard it?? were you impressed or not??
Would I be better off starting with a 2 way kit? If so, are there any good ones around, or parts lists etc
Any experiences would be appreciated. cheers

Howdy and Welcome!
I heard a pair a while back by chance. I went with a friend to visit a friend of a friend, and he'd made some that sounded very good, esp considering the price. The drivers were bought on sale and iirc, the total cost was about $A500. The enclosures were hand made and very solid, but apparently the same internal dimensions, with some extra braces. I don't know about the crossover
The system was playing in the background as I came in, and the sound was good enough to catch my ear and make me detour into the living room for a closer listen. It was only a few minutes in the house and a snatched 10 sec conversation about them. It was nice to hear them this way, as I've never heard them sound better than dire at a store. I don't work with cone'n'dome speakers much anymore, so there may be better options for the money. Hopefully other local builders will comment too.
My gut hunch is they could be quite good if not built to the typical Jaycar compromises, with decent cabs and crossover components.
The two drivers the JV60 uses are also used by other top line manufacturers in good sounding products, like the PMC FB1.
Also look at the VAF speakers which are available in various kit forms and have quite a following. I've never heard any of them, and they're a bit more expensive, but more efficient (always good).
It wasn't much, but I hope it helps some.
