Just a small intro about myself. I have been lurking in DIYaudio since 2001 (or 2?) I love building more than listening to tube amplifiers. I wish I have a dedicated workshop so that I can do speakers as well but in sunny Singapore, space is a bloody premium.
I have been hooked on DIY since I took apart my Dad's Jap coax speakers when I was 11 and got bewitched by them. My first DIYed speakers were mod jobs. I actually did build a pair on a kitchen table amidst the sawdust. Now I get a carpenter to do my cutting. My reference speakers are Thiel CS2.4s and ATC SCM7s. I am currently into Feastrex hence the post in that forum http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/feastrex/165871-new-cabinet-nf5ex.html.
My first tube amplifier was a Leak Stereo 20 and my first DIYed tube amp was the Maplin Millenium 4-20 with new chassis, mains trans and tube rectifiers back in 1997. Did my first preamp not long after that and tube phonostage. I like the sound of Class D amps as well.
I am also into vinyl and have modded a Technics SL1200 with an outboard PSU. I also have Thorens TD124 and 150s, and a Lenco GL75, all modified or "improved" to certain degrees.
I am still learning so please guide me along if I do stray.
