Hello all!

Well, after lurking in the shadows for a while I decided to join the community. I may not be much help in answering questions, as I am pretty much a newbie to the diy audio world.

When I was hired into the company I work for (interconnects & speaker cable), I was completely green. I was brought in to do custom termination of cables, and my boss decided to turn me into a geek (I use that term affectionately!). He opened up my eyes to the world of tweaking & diy and got me rolling with a pretty simple mod to my cd player. Now that he has left the company, I am without that knowledge base to tap into. So I turn to the online community to quench my thirst for knowledge!

I have only played around a little bit with a headphone amp I built and also some small tweaks to my cd player and speakers, but I want to do more. I don't know what I want to pursue next, but if I have any questions I know where to ask!

Hi, Aptimus
You’re a very lucky man, having had a boss like that!
Many companies want a peace of paper when they hire someone, and don't really care if the person is motivated or not in the first place.
I think it should be the other way: try to find out if someone is willing to work and learn and then look at the diplomas from school.
That's the way I always tried to get a job in the past.
I remember a company I worked for, as interim.
After a few weeks the project came to an end and my boss wanted to keep me because he was pleased with my work.
So he asked me ten theoretical questions. I was not able to answer even one correctly, but still he hired me. I worked there for 3 years and when I left, the production was raised to about 5 times partially because I had the will to work and learn.

So you came to the right place if your knowledge tank dried up!
Welcome 🙂

/Hugo
