Heat caused my temper glass to crack!

Anyone had this problem before? My LCD and lenses do not get warm at all. Yet the tempered glass cracked into 3 pieces after about 45 minutes of the projector being turned on. It cracked with a wave like crack right through the center of the glass, not a sharp cut at all.

The glass is about 4 inches away from the outer jacket of a 400W BT28 Eye bulb. The airflow in my box is from the top, coming down between the lcd and the collimating fresnel. Then reaching the bottom of the box, it goes below the collimating fresnel, and then below the tempered glass, to come out through the fans on the back.

The type of glass is Low-E. (I know that it doesnt protect against certain range of IR, but my LCD does not really get hot. At least it protects from direct heat.) I don't understand why it would crack so easily? There was no cold draft from any window or anything. Is this glass just not very resistant? What do you recommend? More agressive cooling? Or to put it farther away from the bulb?
