Hi guys and girls, I'm new to the forum and new to DIY audio. I've built a couple of guitar pedals and such and now I'm starting to get into the theory and designing side. I've bought a couple of books that I'm reading but my knowledge is still pretty limited.

My friend has come to me with a problem and I am looking into a solution for him. He DJ's with a friend using 4 CDJ's and one mixer, the problem is that there is only one headphone output on the mixer so only one of them can be cueing a track at a time. I have thought about it and come up with a possible solution. Its a box that you would plug the line out phono cables from 2 CDJ's into, the signals would then get split into 2 with one of each going to a phono output to then connect to the mixer, and the other going to a pot to vary the mix of the signals and then the mixed signal would go into a headphone amp (I was thinking the CMoy headphone amp) and then to the headphone output.

Ideally I would like the outputs to the mixer to be the same level as the outputs of the CDJ's so I'm guessing I would need to amplify them as they would drop when split. Im not sure of the best way to do this, or if there would be problems with impedence etc. Also I am not sure if the mix pot would work or how the best way to do that would be. If this unit could be entirely battery powered that would be a huge bonus too. Any help and guidance would be much appreciated. I have included a little diagram of my idea in case my description is confusing (The signals would all be stereo but I've just represented them with one line for simplicity)

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
