If the charge and discharge rates are controlled, there is no hazard.
All proprietary Li Cells are controlled most cheap types from China, are not.

Has to be like a billion others out there that use 'normal' battery cells.
'a' 'aa' etc.
Just choose your favorite. Carbon zinc, Alkaline, etc.
