head phones output quality for REW

Hello,
I have an old Toshiba A105 laptop with XP SP3 use for REW measurement. How do I check the quality of the headphone output? Am am guessing a loop back cable between the mic input and headphone output and using a software such as Audacity?

If so I have trouble getting the the driver to run Presonus Audiobox USB96 because Windows XP it's not supported.
