I'm soliciting ace's advise as well... what did he say that convinced you?

I ask because that cdmt ballast is magnetic. From alan at diy, the 250W ballast/socket/bulb is $150, and replacement bulbs are $30....

I'd like to have the quieter, more energy efficient eletronic ballast.

I wonder if the 250 is just too much light for the 7"?

shoot...that's the only place I've seen for that base.

You might try the hello lights website. I'll look around when I get some free time, if you don't post that you've found it already

I was planning to order from them. that sucks. wonder if an email would work? maybe they'll ship to the states if you ask?

they should have that bulb in stock...I think it's $42 or so though. on the bulb link I posted search for "150" or "cdm" and you'll find the section. they have several different bulbs.

oops...just saw your post...that sucks. I talked to them last week and they had them...

when I spoke to them, the couldn't get ballasts though -- what do you know about their ballasts brainchild?

Here's what he wrote:

I've done some research and come up with two ballasts that my
distributor has in stock. They are both rated for the CDM150/T6/942
metal halide lamp. One is a dual ballast and the other is a
quad/multi-tap.

Part# Description
Unit$
71A5482 Dual M-H ballast, 120/277V, M102/M142 $148.35
71A5492 Quad M-H ballast, 120/208/240/277V, M102 $135.45
