Boy am I glad I was busy when the great debate about bass in cars was going on. I have measured 115dB all the way down to 25Hz in *my* car - done with 2 10" subs driven by 150w per driver. Same box in my living room driven by my DH-500 never got near that low or that dB.
Skinny - if you are concerned about power useage for a PC HD, pick up one of the 2.5" formfactor drives used in laptops. No idea about prices downunder, but here you can buy 20gb for $80, or less used.

Words like 'ban us and there will be trouble' was a little joke, that it seems you did not grasp.
Where exactly is the justification for recent bannings of Frank, Bob and myself.
The word idiot was never intended to be inflammatory, and will never be so inflammatory as some words that have been used by others (actual swear words), and in those threads absoloutely no action was taken by mods.
This is a glaring inconsistency and not in the spirit of this forum, and so far I don't see any apologies.
ADVICE - If you are going to pull moderator rank, you need to be very sure that you have read the FULL thread concerned and gained a FULL understanding of what has gone down, before putting fingers near any hair trigger.
There are at least three fellows here who are plain pissed off with the injustice of late, and there are other private emails to reinforce this.
This sort of thing does annoy older and experienced guys, and takes from the enjoyment that can be had, and ends up driving away valuable and long standing members and as has been the case already - more thought and balanced consideration is required before banning any member or sending posts to texas.

Bobken was given the chance to make those posts acceptable and he declined.
My action to pull BobKen's, your's & fdegroves posts was my descision but was not done without the consultation of others. It was unfortunenate that Bobken's posts had some interesting technical content. I was hoping to take those (edited) posts and related ones into a new thread.
Moderation will never be perfect, or will it ever satisfy everyone, but by far the majority of the feedback that we do get is that some moderation, even somewhat flawed, is better than none. It doesn't help to have a few members always pushing to see how much they can get away with.

today i popped in to sharp's r&d labs in oxford, had a look as some of the 3d LCD screens on computers and 3d phones, also some of their ideas for 'system-on-panel' fab. and manafacture. These 3D disp. are really really good on comp. dunno about phone one tho!
also yesterday was out drinking with this guy, vehicles systems engineer of Thrust SSC.... really really good guy and totally cool, it was quite interesting asking him about the active sys. employed. He is now heading project to break land speed record for electric powered car.
A good week for me 🙂
