My Last Word

mrfeedback said:
Frank are you saying that Mr Joel is behaving badly in private correspondence too ?. I am deeply shocked.
Eric.

To which the illustrious Frank D responds "maybe so", and then goes on to list a dozen misconceptions and outright lies.

This kind of nonsense is exactly why I'm not participating in this forum anymore. Through selective moderation from "Planet10", the tubes forum has become the place where one goes to get snotty abuse and character attacks from Frank Degrove and others. If you agree with the very vocal majority, you're ok, if not - well, you'd best go elsewhere.

The real humorous thing is that they mock the Audio Asylum forums, yet they post the same drivel day in and day out. Endless discussions about how the logo paint on a tube effects it's "harmonics", etc. Meanwhile, ask a real technical question - you will get silence. Can't hear a difference between caps? You are called deaf. Use cathode followers? You are called dumb.

No thanks. This used to be a fun read everyday. 🙁

Good luck to you fellas.

Hi,

Joel, I thought NY'ers are supposed to be hard nosed, thick skinned, and never give up.

Wouldn't it be better to give up on that rigid RDH stuff, accept someone else's opinion, even if it's outside that book and start posting again ?

Was it that bad Joel? Com'on pall. You're almost part of the furniture as far as the "Tubes" section goes.

Cheers,😉

Rethink Moderation

I have the same problem with the tubes forum that many others have had against other sections of DIYAudio, which is selective moderation.
I don't mind somebody disagreeing with me, or even insulting me - bring it on - but what I do mind is my responses being deleted, moved to "texas", forcefully edited, etc, by a moderator.
And please spare me the "mods are only human" speech. I have had emails sent to me from Dave/"Planet10" explaining that he did not remove someone else's post (which contained open insults, and vulgarity) because he agreed with it. Where in the forum rules does it say that insults are acceptable if a mod thinks they are warranted??? This is not a question of "fairness", it's simply a question of applying the same rules to everybody, whether you agree with their point of view or not.
I have also had Peter Daniels threaten to sin bin me for not agreeing that capacitors have different "sounds". Now, whether you agree with my statement or not, you MUST agree that it is inappropriate for a moderator to take that stance with a member.

When I'm allowed to fight on a level playing field, I'd be happy to participate again.

It would also be nice if Frank and "mr feedback" would not start rumors that I'm unhelpful or rude in my private emails with other members, as I have never ever done that.

cheers

Poor Dear....

It would also be nice if Frank and "mr feedback" would not start rumors that I'm unhelpful or rude in my private emails with other members, as I have never ever done that.
I only said that you were very rude in the forum.
Joel if you give it out around here, expect to get it back.
Elsewise, stop your whinging, learn to be more polite in your communications, and keep your facts straight.

Eric.

Joel,

I only said that you were very rude in the forum.
He he, that's rich, from Eric 😉
With regard to "selective moderation":
I've been on the wrong end of decisions. In fact recently I've had innocent posts sent to Texas, but if I wan't talking to you, it wouldn't be worth mentioning.
Comparing your own treatment to others is a very difficult thing to do evenly.
For example:
You are in a queue (line) in a shop (store) waiting to pay.
There are 2 checkouts, and you go to the one that you think will serve you first.
While you are in the queue (line), you see the other going faster. It gets you angry:
Why does the other one always go faster?
The answer of course is that you only notice on those occasions when yours goes slower. On those other 50% of occasions, you are out of the shop (store) quickly, and don't notice.

I'm not suggesting that the moderators decisions are that even handed. They are human, although Pinkmouse did once say:
Ah, but is it your own merely human flaws that prevent you from realizing the god like perfection of us mods 🙂 ;-)
so I'm uncertain now 🙂

Cheers,
