Have just ordered Drivers...What do you think?!

Hi,
I have just ordered drivers for my new speakers.

They are the Visaton Ribbon Tweeter and the Peerless HDS 164 (w/o phase plug). I am using a first order xover at 2700Hz. I'm not sure whether to go for sealed or ported, but LSPCad says that I can get 40Hz from these in ported configuration.

What do you think?

Thanks,
Gaz

Hi,

Andrea:
It's the MHT 12. I've not heard of the other one.

Bricolo:
A phase plug is that bullet-like thing on the front of a speaker (EG Seas Excel range). It is supposed to cool the voice coil, reduce compression etc etc. and generally be good allround. From what I was told by the shop owners who suggested these drivers (Wilmslow Audio) was that it made little / no difference and told me to go for the cheaper one. (Maybe they didn't have the expensive ones in stock!)

François:
That's good to know. They told me to go for the Peerless because they were not too analytical like the ribbon and so the sound should be more balanced. They did not recommend "precise" sounding drivers as the speaker would sound too thin.

I've just had a look and I see what you mean!!!
I'm cutting the HDS164 w/o PP off as late as possible as it is!
Many people on this forum adviced me the one you bought, for a 2 way system

but I'm not very excited with this one, I don't like the frequency response graph (only linear <1kHz)
