Can anyone point me towards a thread or website that details mods/tweaks/improvements for Harmon Kardon CD players, especially the HD 7300 that I have just acquired. I searched forum in vain.

Basics:
-filtering "self"
-bigger power caps bypassed by film caps
-faster diodes
-better resistors
-better op amps...
Works for any digital source.

Merci, deuginthesky, I will inquire locally about "better" quality components. I have heard that replacing switch-mode power supply with a well-regulated and filtered linear power supply is a good start--someone even suggested **battery** supplies for different parts of a CD player or increased decoupling of powersupplies on the boards themselves to prevent interaction between digital and analogue parts of circuit. I am trying to find a service manual or at least a circuit diagram for the HD7300.

For example, what I did on a Pioneer CD-player:
10 000UF 50V main capacitor filtered by a 2,4UF MKP cap.
82 00UF Panasonic FC "secondary" capacitor
1% standard metal resistors between dac and outputs
ceramic bypass/coupling caps replaced by styroflex/mil grade PIO.
Elna Silmics II before outputs
MKP hi quality caps (Clarity Cap SA range) soldered on PCB/RCAs outputs
I/V OP amp is now LT1057
analog amp is now OPA2604
MKP bypass caps
Not that expensive when you buy lots of components 😉
With good speakers, you hear the difference.
