I need your help, about a problem with my HK980.
It worked flawlessly until yesterday.
I plugged in new speakers, the BW603, and plugged in the amplifier on power socket. The amplifier did not turn on, like usual, in standbuy mode - an orange light on the power on button, but a white light was turned on on the power button and the tone control button. The amplifier does not respond to commands, cannot be turned on, or turns off on the power on button, the display does not turn on. No ofcourse any sound.
Do you have any idea what that might be? Are the new speakers defective and caused damage to the amplifier?
unfortunately i don't have another amp at the moment to try the speakers.

Verify the speakers are connected correctly, with no shorts.
If ok, having a problem at this time could be a coincidence.
If there is no connection problem, disconnect both speakers and check
for DC voltage at each amplifier output. You may need to open it up
and find the correct internal place to check for DC, if there are output
muting relays. Look also for blown internal fuses.

Unfortunately, I've had several of those HK980's in the shop from customers.
Sure, they look nice, streamlined attractive looks.
But inside, they're pure downhill to me.
HK sure lost their proud heritage when they started importing (china) those things, they're far below what HK used to make.
At the time, I couldn't even get service info on them, and had to give the bad news to the customer.
One customer even gave me one - I gave it to the junkman.
My old (1972) HK Citation 330A is still in perfect shape though..

When I connect it on power socket, I can hear only one relay to connect - strong click sound, but before was I think two relays, and amp went in standby. Now it light white led on power button and volume control. No display, non of buttons work.
