Harman gets bigger ...

Here in India, Samsung are the only phones that last 3 years without hassles...the rest do not meet the standard, Huawei sets used by me were good, but not sold in India.

Sound United disposed of a 1.1 billion US$ portfolio for about $350 million to Samsung, so on paper the buyer got a bargain...

I do not see much value in super expensive audio equipment, as I consider them over hyped.
But that is just my opinion.

Maybe they have less problems and issues than the others?
They don't have less issues. Samsung follows a tiered support systems for Android devices, as explained on their "Security Updates Scope" web page. Enterprise and expensive high-end devices receive the security updates once a month, midrange devices every 3 months, low-end devices every 6 months. Older devices do not receive security fixes at all. The complete list of devices on each tier is on the Samsung security web site; other vendors do the same.

I have three active Samsung phnes, they get Android and app updates regularly, max. is about 2 months for Android, less for apps, most are minor tweaks.

So I must ask the poster who said there is a problem to be more precise about his model and details....older than Android 11 are simply not upgraded any more in India at least.

If it were only app updates - most of which are window dressing - I wouldn't be annoyed. However, given their OS is Android based, and Android as well as Apple launch security updated regularly, it's odd that Samsung doesn't bother.
Interestingly, a number of years ago when I was in business, we dealt with a Canadian firm who imported electronic gear from both Japan and South Korea. In conversation one evening at a promotional event in Vancouver, the owner remarked that the Japanese and Koreans were markedly different in how they responded to potential product issues/problems. The Japanese would immediately be concerned, seek more information, and would promptly correct any issues. The Koreans would take an approach bordering on disbelief that their product could have an issue, and would require prodding to investigate.
Yup, I can relate, my Samsung S9 was hacked last year (simm card hack) and I replaced it with an iPhone 15 as I have lost confidence in Android/Google and Samsung. (The exploit has been known since 2019 apparently and they never fixed it. I purchased the S9 in early 2019.) The iPhone user experience isn't generally better (although the voice to text is way better) what I have noticed is updates are frequent and well explained - not the case with the S9 even when it was new.

As Apple advances iOS and new iPhones, old ones become obsolete as far as repair, and at some point the old processor can’t support the new OS. They support old phones for longer than you might think. Those old phones with an older iOS are still useful to someone, and Apple still issues security updates to iOS.

Though I am, and have been for years, a Mac user I use an Android phone and tablet. I have had a Samsung tablet and was appalled at how infrequently they would do any kind of a system, or security, update. That lack was amplified by Google's frequent updates to my current Pixel tablet and phone. It seems support is not high on Samsung's agenda. They are a company I have no wish to support.

Au contraire....

I firmly believe that is it ain't broke, don't touch it.

I love how our Samsung Android phones and tablets are not constantly pestering us.

On the other hand, the LG TVs keep upgrading, they broke the HDMI/eARC control loop with the Rokus.... then Android Auto has a tendency to tell me that I need to update it when I get in the car and about to go somewhere.

Nevermind WIndows updates...

Far as Harmon, who cares. Start a company yourself create a 25 year legacy product and 50 years from now sell it.
Like any competition, eventually you can loose just as much as win. 50/50 unless you need a "consultant"
They will gladly make up a better odd. How about 80/20 sound good? write me a check lol.
Good luck. The World Changes Quickly now.
On a positive note, now more than ever. Any effort or business that employs humans is more important than ever.

If you ever created a legacy company so powerful that it buys up other legacy companies.
You would be proud to own it.

Far as software updates and "Security".....

People buy or trade in / replace phones /tablets every 6 months to a year.
This is encouraged by the carrier to sell more products. The companies dont care they want to sell product too.

Are we talking real security updates? there is none. If they want to hack you , They will hack you LOL.
In fact with a legal order from a judge, I can drain your account easily. No update will save you.

Or we talking actual real world spyware/adware
Spyware and the highest paid apps do " security updates" as often as your like.

People that trade in hardware actually spend money as foolishly as possible.
So they are more interested in updating and spying / tracking people that spend money.

Far as me, rather I am rich or not. To everybody else, I am broke leave me alone.
Updates = deleted the day I buy the phone. WiFi off, updates off all access is off.
Your battery life is excellent, would you like this update so we can drain it. NO
Thank you for buying your LG washing machine, connect to Wifi for more features.
No wash clothes and shut up. Hi I am your new TV... shut up and make picture.
Hi Alexa, please enter 30 middle fingers and 1 fart into my shopping cart.

Probably why vintage equipment is getting more expensive. It still works and is not " smart"
